2008 Honor Star Salute

What does it take to be an Honor Star? Why do we celebrate this accomplishment in a girl’s life with so much pomp and circumstance?

Beginning with the first Honor Star in our church history and continuing to the future Honor Stars who are now Prims and Daisies; we honor their commitment to the Stars Club Pledge to “striving always to glorify my Lord as a Star.”

MPact Girls’ Ministries is a mentoring and discipleship ministry. We meet with these young ladies each week on Wednesday nights in grade-specific classrooms. Each month we begin a new theme or unit with Bible lessons, a project related to that unit and workbook pages. In order earn the badge for a unit, they need to complete all the above plus recite the memory verse associated with that unit. In addition to these regular units, the Honor Stars complete 9 Honor Steps which requires extra work outside of the classroom.

All Honor Stars are required to read the entire New Testament, complete a minimum of 27 month-long units, including all 9 of the Honor Steps to qualify for the prestigious title of Honor Star. A few of these steps include keeping a prayer journal, memorizing the Assemblies of God Statement of Faith, and learning the Books of the Bible in order and spelled correctly.

Once all of this has been completed, the Honor Star candidates must pass a written test over the 36 Bible verses they have memorized over the past 3 years of study in their Stars Club.

These young ladies that stand before you today, and those whose names appear in the bulletin from years prior, have earned the praise and accolades that we now bestow upon them.

Congratulations to our Honor Stars, your church, your teachers, and your families are proud of your accomplishment!
